IAS Officer: ‘’Crack Their Heads”
SDM Karnal, Ayush Sinha asked the police personnel to “crack the head” of farmers who were protesting.
Ayush Sinha is an IAS officer. He is posted as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Karnal, Haryana. Last week, a video of Sinha was posted by BJP MP Varun Gandhi. In the video, Sinha can be seen telling the Haryana Police personnel to hit the protesting farmers on their heads, if they try to cross the barricades.
In the video, he tells them, “It is very simple and clear, whoever he is, wherever he is from, no one should be allowed to reach there. We will not let this line be breached at any cost. Just pick up your lathi and hit them hard… It’s very clear, there is no need for any instruction, just thrash them hard. If I see a single protester here, I want to see his head smashed, crack their heads,"
When Sinha was asked by the media persons, he said that he was not aware of the video. He also said that there was stone pelting, and to comply with S.144 of the CrPC, some directions may have been given.
Varun Gandhi from the BJP tweeted, he hopes that the video was edited, and sinha did not say this, otherwise this was unacceptable in democratic India to do to its own citizens.
Yogendra Yadav is the President of Swaraj India (political party), and also a leader of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha. He said that the lathicharge exposed the true face of the Haryana Police.
Yesterday, SDM Ayush Sinha was transferred out of Karnal.
He is now posted as the additional secretary of the Citizens Resources Information Department (CRID). CRID has been dealing with some of the important programmes of the government, and Haryana CM Manihar Lal Khattar is monitoring the progress of these programmes closely.
With regards to Sinha's speech to the police personnel in the video, CM Khattar said that he agrees that Sinha’s choice of words was wrong, but he defended the police action against the protesting farmers.
The Samyukt Kisan Morcha is a body of different farmer organisations that are leading the protests against farm laws. They have said that a murder case should be filed against sinha, and he should also be dismissed from service.
They said that if their demands are not fulfilled by 6th September, they will take control of the Karnal mini secretariat.
The congress has asked for an inquiry by a sitting judge of the High Court, or a retired Judge.
