India took on archrivals Pakistan in the ICC World Cup match on 14th October 2023 at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The stadium was packed with more than 1 lakh people. At around 12.30pm, before the start of the match, there were musical performances by Arijit Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Shankar Mahadevan. This set the mood for the most anticipated match of the entire tournament.

India won the toss and elected to bowl. Then the 2 teams came out on the ground for the National Anthem. More than 1 lakh 20 thousand people sang the Indian national anthem at the same time. India finished with 192/3 in 30.3 overs and won the match by 76 wickets in hand and about 19.3 overs remaining. The seven-wicket win was India’s eighth consecutive victory over Pakistan in ODI World Cups in a streak that began in 1992. Bumrah took 2/19 in seven overs and was given the Man of the match. India lead the table now with six points after three straight wins. However, a lot of other incidents also happened during and after the match.

A small group of Pakistani journalists finally made it to the tournament, after their long wait for a visa to India ended just in time for this game, but no fans have managed to cross the border yet. BCCI should be praised for organizing the event in a manner that helped them make the most of the 'home advantage. A video has gone viral on the internet in which Virat Kohli can be seen giving two Team India shirts to Babar Azam after Pakistan's defeat. Wasim Akram said. "Today was not the day to do this. If you want to do it - (agar chache ke puttar ne keh diya hai ki t-shirt chahiye kohli ki) if your uncle's son has asked you to get Kohli's shirt - then do it after the game in the dressing room,". Meanwhile, Virat Kohli signs to his wife.During the match some fans booed Babar Azam and some taunted Muhammad Rizwan with chants of "Jai Shri Ram" after he was dismissed. Tamil Nadu DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin described the behaviour as "unacceptable". However, a BJP leader and Union Minister Giriraj Singh cited the Afghanistan versus England match to assert that religion has nothing to do with the support of the audience. The Afghan players in the 15th October match garnered overwhelming support from the enthusiastic crowd at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium, igniting sheer excitement among the spectators with each wicket they took against England. The videos widely circulated on social media showed the crowd cheering for the Afghan players whenever they hit a boundary or took a wicket. India will take on Bangladesh on 19th November 2023 at Pune.
