India On High Alert 4th Monkeypox Virus
India's fourth case of monkeypox has been reported in a man in national capital Delhi who has no history of foreign travel.

More than 16,000 cases have now been reported from 75 countries. There had been five deaths so far as a result of the outbreak. India has reported four cases of the virus, three from Kerala and one from New Delhi.
While the patients in Kerala reportedly contracted the virus in the Middle East, the case in Delhi does not have any history of foreign travel and was reportedly infected during a stag party in Himachal Pradesh's Manali. Amid strict health screening at ports and airports to check the spread of monkeypox, the Delhi airport will refer international arrivals exhibiting symptoms of the viral infection to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital. Even Kerala has imposed strict rules to control the virus. According to the WHO, monkeypox is not as contagious as smallpox and does not cause severe illness. It can eradicated by the smallpox vaccine.
Precautions

To prevent the transmission of the monkeypox virus, one should avoid eating inadequately cooked meat and other animal products.

Avoid getting in direct contact with the infected person.

Physical distancing should be maintained with the people infected with the virus.

Do not use material such as the bedding of the infected person which could be contaminated with the virus.
