India Overtakes China In Air Force Rankings

IAF has been ranked above China by WDMMA, placing India 6th in global air power. The ranking considers combat strength, support systems, and geography not just technology.

India is a country with a strong Army, Air Force, and Navy. These defense forces have always protected the nation from its enemies. Recently, the Indian Air Force has been in the news after a new ranking from the World Directory of Modern Military Aircraft (WDMMA) compared air forces around the world. Many headlines claimed that India became the 3rd strongest air force after the US and Russia, but this is not true.

According to the actual WDMMA report, India is ranked 6th, although it is still placed above China, which holds the 7th spot. The US dominates the top positions. The US Air Force is ranked 1st because of its advanced technology and modern fighter jets, including the B-2 bomber. Surprisingly, the 2nd rank is held by the US Navy, since it has its own aircraft and more than 10 aircraft carriers. The Russian Air Force is 3rd, followed by the US Army in 4th and the US Marines in 5th. Then comes the Indian Air Force at rank 6, followed by China at 7, Japan at 8, Israel at 9, and France at 10.

Experts believe India ranked higher mainly because of Operation Sindoor, which showed the world how Indian forces destroyed Pakistan’s air bases, including its China-backed JF-17 and F-16 jets. China is also upset because Pakistan, its close ally, is ranked 18th, below countries like Australia and Brazil.

WDMMA says rankings are not based only on technology. They also consider supplies, support, geography, and real combat performance. With the Himalayas as a natural shield and proven strength in real battles, India’s Air Force earned its place above China.
