India Ranks 102 in Global Hunger Index
As per the Global Hunger Index, India ranks 102nd in the world in terms of malnourishment and starvation. This rank is behind the likes of Pakistan and Bangladesh.
The Global Hunger Index (GHI) ranks countries on how they deal with malnutrition. The reports find out how many people are hungry at regional and national levels. They focus on four important points. They check if people are receiving nutritious food or not, child wasting, they also see how many children die below the age of 5. They are judged out of 100 points. Zero points mean there is no hunger and 100 means the worst and that people in that country have no food to eat. 117 countries were judged and were ranked 1 to 117.
Pakistan was at 94th rank, Bangladesh 88th rank and Nepal 73rd. India secured 30.3 points and was ranked 102. This is a very dangerous score of India. Because India has a very large population, it means that people in India are not receiving enough food and the children are not cared for. Among all South Asian countries India was ranked the lowest. This is a serious problem. India was ranked 55th in 2014.While India's leaders are showing off about India’s achievements millions are sleeping empty stomach.
