India-Russia Sign Deal to Produce AK-203 in UP

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Modi have signed a deal to produce the Russian rifle AK-203 at a factory in Pune. This rifle is the advanced version of the AK-47.

The Indian Military has been using the INSAS (India Small Arms System) for a long time. The INSAS is a type of rifle manufactured in Tamil Nadu, Kanpur and West Bengal.

The Indian Military has been facing a lot of problems with this rifle. They face issues such as gun jamming, rifle going into automatic mode when it was set for 3 round bursts and also oil would fall on the users eye while firing the gun.During the Kargil war, soldiers had complained about the guns jamming and the magazines cracking in the freezing temperature.. Which made it difficult to face the enemy. The INSAS rifle is not meant to kill the enemy.

The terrorists in J&K and the North East, where terrorist use AK-47 to kill. In order to defend themselves better, the Indian Military started using the AK-47 guns and other Imported guns. The special commandos also use German and Israeli automatic rifles. The Indian Military has been looking for an alternative to the INSAS for a very long time.

Now, India and Russia have signed a deal to manufacture AK-203 in a factory at Amethi, Uttar Pradesh.The AK-203 is the advanced version of the AK-47 rifle. The gun has a range of 400 meters and is 100% accurate. The AK-203 can fire 600 bullets in one minute, which means 10 bullets per second. AK-203 is lighter than the INSAS rifle. The AK-203 can be used in all climates.

Vladimir Putin signed the deal with PM Modi when he came to India in October 2018. He said that he is very happy to work with India. The Amethi factory will produce 7 lakh units of Ak-203 rifles to replace the INSAS.
