India Vaccinates People Without ID Cards
Indian government has decided to vaccinate people without Id cards and district task forces will register such people with their own Id cards.
India has now started vaccinating everyone above the age of 18. All registration is being done on the [Box 01 CoWIN Website. The documents required for vaccination:
Aadhaar card, voter ID card, passport, driving licence, PAN card, NPR smart card, pension document are the accepted photo ID proof required for vaccination.
The Union Health Ministry received several concerns from various state governments regarding people who do not have any of these. State governments said that there are many people in the country, who do not have a valid government ID like Aadhar card, Ration Card, PAN Card, etc. Hence, the Union Health Ministry issued guidelines and ordered district task forces to take responsibility for registering those groups of people on the Co-Win site, who do not have any photo identity cards required for the registration for vaccination. For example prison officials, old age home officials etc can register on behalf of prisoners, senior citizens etc. The ministry said that covid-19 vaccination services should not be denied in the absence of identity proofs.
Vaccination of these people will take place only at government centres. The “key facilitator” will have to verify the identity of the beneficiaries.
