Indian Bans PUBG & 118 Chinese Apps
After China’s fresh provocation in Ladakh, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has banned another 118 Chinese applications.
In June after the violent faceoff between Indian & Chinese soldiers at the Galwan Valley which led to the death of 20 Indian soldiers, severe tensions started between India and China. This led to the Indian government banning 59 Chinese applications including TikTok, SHAREit, WeChat, and many others for safety reasons. A month back, 47 more apps were banned which included the clones and duplicates of the originally banned apps. After China’s fresh provocation in Ladakh, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has banned another 118 Chinese applications.The list of blocked apps includes the very popular battle game PUBG Mobile.
Other Apps include APUS Launcher, Ludo World, ShareSave by Xiaomi, Baidu, Tencent Weiyun, Rise of Kingdoms: Lost Crusade, and Zakzak. According to a statement from the Ministry, all 118 apps were harmful to India’s defense, security and public. The statement claimed that it had received many complaints from various sources that the apps stole and secretly transmitted users data to servers located outside India. Ministry added that this transmission of data without the users permission can be misused and be a danger for India.
