Indian Man Beaten Up by Other Passengers During Flight
After a heated argument between an indigo staff & a passenger went viral,in another viral video a group of two passengers can be seen involved in a violent fight during a flight.
Just a few days back, we released about a mid-air flight between an Indigo airways flight attendant and a passenger on board over some catering issues.Now you might have come across another viral video, which showcases two male passengers having a heated argument, which eventually breaks into a full-blown fight with a man being badly beaten by 4 other passengers during a flight. As seen in the video, an air hostess tried to control the situation initially when both the sides were engaged in a heated argument. In the video, two other flight attendants can be seen, one making the announcement on the plane, urging passengers to sit down, while the other one approaches the seats at the end of the video. According to a passenger who was on the plane, the incident happened on 26th December 2022 on the Thai Smile Airlines Bangkok - Kolkata flight just before the plane was about to take off.
The conflict started when the crew asked passengers to adjust their seats to the upright position before the plane takes off — it is a standard safety procedure which is also followed on flights. However, one of the passengers refused to adjust his seat, saying he has a backache. The crew repeatedly requested the passenger and also explained to him the reason behind adjusting the seat during take-off and landing.
They told him that in case of an emergency, a reclined seat can make evacuation difficult. Also, a reclined seat can make it difficult to get the other passengers in trouble in case of an emergency landing. Despite the repeated requests, the passenger did not comply and remained seated with his seat reclined. The crew told him that they would inform the captain if he did not follow the rules. But the passenger told the crew that they were free to tell the captain, but he would not adjust his seat. Because of this, the other passengers got irritated and started complaining about the passenger.
After which, one of the passengers got into an argument with him that soon escalated into a physical assault. Later, several passengers ganged up to thrash the passenger who had refused to adjust his seat. The Passenger did not hit back and is seen trying to defend himself as the crew and others on the flight try to stop the assault. The source said the take-off was delayed after the captain was informed about the incident. As soon as the violence stopped, the crew ensured that the passengers involved returned to their respective seats and the aircraft left for Kolkata. The airline has said in its report that no passenger received any serious injury in the incident. It added that none of the fliers involved were served alcoholic drinks on the flight. There was no other disturbance for the rest of the journey. Two passengers, who were spotted shooting videos of the assault, were requested to delete them. Despite the full-blown violence, none of the passengers involved were deboarded, and the flight continued on its normal journey.
The incident occurred over foreign soil and hence DGCA hasn't registered a case in the matter. However, soon after the video went viral, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) issued a statement taking note of the incident and stating that the required actions would be taken. After the video of the assault went viral, many social media users said those involved must be put on a no-fly list. What do you think about this incident?
