Indian Man Kills Wife in US: Sends Photos to Girlfriend in India
Indian woman Raajitha Sabbineni was allegedly murdered in the US by her husband, Avinash Narne, who is accused of staging it as a suicide while having an affair.
On 5 June 2025, 27-year-old Raajitha Sabbineni married 30-year-old software engineer Avinash Narne in an arranged marriage and moved with him to Bellevue, Washington, USA.
Investigators later found that Avinash had been in a relationship with another woman in India before the marriage and had continued the relationship after marrying Raajitha. His girlfriend had even attended their wedding.
In the months after the wedding, Raajitha reportedly told close friends that smoothies prepared by Avinash tasted strange, like medicine or cough syrup.
On 24 October 2025, Avinash called the police, claiming he had returned home to find the bathroom locked from inside and Raajitha unresponsive. Police broke open the door and found her dead. Initially, the cause of death was unclear, but the post-mortem confirmed that she had been strangled and her death was ruled a murder.
Investigators found that no one else had entered or left the apartment around the time of the incident. They also discovered that Avinash had searched online about poisons and that Raajitha had messaged him on the day of her death, saying her smoothie tasted like medicine.
Police believe the bathroom scene was staged to make the death appear like a suicide. They also found that Avinash made at least four calls to his girlfriend in India on the day of the incident and sent her a photograph of Raajitha's body the following day.
After nearly eight months of investigation, Bellevue Police questioned Avinash again on 27 June 2026. He later appeared in court and pleaded not guilty. The court set his bail at US$5 million (around ?43-48 crore). The case remains under investigation, and the final verdict will depend on the evidence presented in court.
