ISH & 2 Deaf Win National Award 2023 From President Murmu
ISH and 2 other Deaf won the National Award 2023 on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, 3rd December 2023.
Every year on 3rd December, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the President of India in a grand ceremony at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, bestows the National Awards for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities to 21 categories of disabilities as per the RPWD Act. Awards are conferred in about 14 different categories like Best Person with Disabilities, Role Model, Institutes working with persons with disability, Best employer, best accessible transport or accessible information technology etc.
This year President Droupadi Murmu bestowed the National Awards for the Empowerment of Divyangjan 2023 for their exemplary contributions across various fields. Let me share some exciting good news with you all.
India Signing Hands Pvt Ltd, (ISH News), won the Sarvshreshth Sugamya Soochana Evem Sanchar Prodyogiki which in English means National Award for Best Accessible Information & Communication Technology. Our Founder & CEO, Mr. Alok Kejriwal received the honour from the Hon'ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu. President Smt. Murmu, addressing the audience, applauded divyangjan’s inspirational struggles and achievements, recognizing them as a source of inspiration for all citizens. The President said that the National Awards for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities is a commendable medium for the empowerment of Divyangjan as recognizing individual and institutional work encourages everyone. She said that Divyangjans who are achievers in various fields should help other Divyangjans to the best of their ability. The President said that about 15 percent of the total world population are persons with disabilities. She was happy to note that in the last few years, there has been a change in the attitude of society towards persons with disabilities. She expressed confidence that with the help of proper facilities, opportunities and empowerment efforts, all Divyangjan will live life with equality and dignity. President highlighted the remarkable progress among all players affected by disabilities, including women. The President said that it is a matter of pride that every part of the new Parliament building is accessible to the Divyangjan. She urged all to learn from this and ensure the needs of Divyangjan from the very beginning. She said that we should work with the thinking of innovation instead of renovation.
Two other Deaf also won National awards.
Himanshu Kansal, Deaf from Sheopur, Madhya Pradesh currently working in HWSPSHI, Panchkula, HR, received the National Award for Individual Excellence in the category of Best person with Disability (Shresth Divyangjan) for his impactful work in designing 20 ISL textbooks, video editing, Branding, Posters for deaf awareness etc.
Poonam has been a strong female role model in the area of deaf sports especially Deaf Athletics and Judo, Dance, Arts and Tailor. She has won several national, state, District awards. She was born in a small village
Rajli in Haryana to poor parents. She has a deaf sister and a hearing brother. She was extremely active in cultural competitions like arts , dance and then she became successful in judo championships. She received the National Award for Individual Excellence in the category of Best person with Disability (Shresth Divyangjan)
