Jackie Chan Did Not Support Son Jaycee in Drug Case
When Jackie Chan’s son was arrested in a drug case, Jackie Chan publicly apologised and donated his entire property to charity instead of his son.
Actor Jackie Chan recently turned 67. He remains one of the world's highest-paid stars, who enjoys fame not only in Asia, but also in Hollywood. He has always performed his own stunts without a stunt double and has broken many bones. Jaycee is the only son of Jackie and his wife, Joan Lin. In 2014, it was reported that Jaycee and Taiwanese actor Ko Kai tested positive for marijuana. The police had seized more than 100 grams of marijuana from Jaycee’s Beijing apartment. Jaycee and Ko were arrested and sent to Jail. The news about Jackie Chan’s son getting arrested came as a huge shock to people as Jackie was China Government's anti-drug ambassador. Because of his son’s arrest many chinese companies said they would not work with Jackie or any other actor if they or their families are involved in drugs.
Jaycee Chan said his father did not intervene on his behalf and that he received no special treatment in prison, where conditions were "quite harsh." Jackie Chan publicly apologised for his son’s behaviour and said, “I'm very ashamed that I haven't been a good role model. I am very sad over my son’s behaviour and hope he changes his habits in the future. I failed to teach my son and I should also bear responsibility. Jaycee and I deeply bow in apology to society." After Jaycee’s arrest Jackie changed his will and said that he has a wealth of $350 million and the entire amount would be donated to charity and not a single penny would be given to his son. People were shocked by his decision and thought how could a parent do this to their child. Jackie said, “Jaycee has a bad attitude and drug habit. If he is capable, he can make his own money. If he is not, then he will just be wasting my money. This is why I am not going to give him any money after my death.” People were shocked but some praised him for being a strong parent to teach his son a lesson.
Now people are comparing Jackie Chan to Shah Rukh as even his son is caught in a drug scandal and are waiting to see how Shah Rukh Khan responds.
