Justice Bobde to Become New CJI
On Tuesday 29th October, President Ram Nath Kovind appointed Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde as the next Chief Justice of India.
The Chief Justice of India is the head of the Indian Judiciary and the Supreme Court of India. Ranjan Gogoi is the Chief Justice of India (CJI). He will be retiring on 17th November. On Tuesday, President RamNath Kovind appointed Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde as the next Chief Justice of India.He will be taking the oath on 18th November.
Justice Bobde, will be the 47th CJI and will work till April 23rd 2021. Bobde was Born on April 24, 1956 in Nagpur. In his family everyone is a lawyer. He is immensely respected among his peers, which is why he has been a part of important cases. Justice Bobde is one of the five judges who are presiding over the Ayodhya case.Justice Bobde's oath-taking ceremony will be attended by top dignitaries of the country. Some senior ministers of the cabinet and other top officials of the judiciary are likely to attend the event.
