Karnataka Launches Water Conservation Scheme
Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy lunches “Jalamrutha”, a water conservation project. This project is aimed at solving the problem of drought in the state.
In India, Karnataka is one of the states that has a very big water problem. Due to very less rainfall, farmers are facing a lot of difficulties to grow crops. The Government of Karnataka has declared 2019 as the“Year of Water”. They want people to realise the importance of water and solve the problem of water shortage.
This is why the Karnataka government has is going to launch a water conservation project called “Jalamrutha”. This was Launched by the Chief Minister of Karnataka, H.D. Kumaraswamy in Bengaluru on 28th February 2019. This project uses scientific methods to save water. It will also help to preserve the water in lakes, ponds and underground water bodies
The state government, local Panchayats, NGOs and different corporate companies will work together for this project.A State-level committee headed by the CM of Karnataka will keep a watch on the progress of the project.
