Kashmir: 4 Terrorists Hiding Inside Cupboard Killed by the Army
Five soldiers were martyred and six others were severely injured after terrorists opened fire at a convoy of Indian Army trucks near Kathua in Jammu & Kashmir on 8th July 2024.

Late on 6th July 2024, the Indian Army launched a search operation in Kulgam district after receiving intelligence about the presence of terrorists. They found terrorists in two places in Kulgam:
Modergam Village
The army reached a house where the terrorists were suspected to be hiding. As soon as they arrived, two terrorists opened fire on the soldiers. The army retaliated, resulting in the death of one para-trooper. The entire house was destroyed, and the bodies of both terrorists were recovered.
Chinigam Frisal
Here, terrorists were found hiding in a bunker inside an almirah. The army attacked and killed all four terrorists, but sadly, one Indian soldier also lost his life.
The next day, terrorists attacked an Indian Army camp in Rajouri District, Jammu, at around 3:40 am. The terrorists fired at a sentry post, leading to a half-hour exchange of gunfire. One sentry was injured and rushed to the nearest medical facility. Although no official statement was issued, local reports confirmed the gunshots, and many said that the "prompt response of the alert Army men foiled this attack."
On 8th July 2024, Indian Army trucks on routine patrol on the Machedi-Kindli-Malhar road were attacked by terrorists. A grenade was thrown at the first truck, followed by gunfire at around 3:30 pm. This was the second attack on the Indian Army in the Jammu region within 48 hours.
Five soldiers were martyred, and six were seriously injured in the attack. The injured were taken to a hospital for treatment. The army quickly launched a search operation, sending a reinforcement team into the forest to hunt for the terrorists. The area of the attack lacks proper road connectivity, which the terrorists exploited to attack the slow-moving trucks.
President Murmu, PM Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Defence Secretary Bharat Bhushan Basu, and other politicians condemned the attacks and offered condolences to the families of the martyrs.
The army and authorities are worried about local support for the terrorists. They believe locals are providing terrorists with places to hide, as seen in the Kulgam search operation. In the Kathua attack, authorities found that a local guide helped the terrorists conduct reconnaissance, provided food and shelter, and assisted them in reaching their hideouts after the attack.
Security agency sources said that Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba’s unit, the Resistance Front, was behind these attacks. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has identified Saifullah Sajid Jatt from Pakistan's Punjab as the leader of this front. They called him a "hardcore terrorist" and announced a reward of ?10 lakhs for information leading to his capture.
