If you don’t already know, the Char Dham Yatra is a visit to four religious sites in Uttrakhand. It is believed that visiting these sites helps achieve moksha. The four sites are Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. It is believed that every Hindu should visit the Char Dhams during one's lifetime.

The Char Dham Yatra didn't take place for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, it started on May 3. Kedarnath Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva in Uttarakhand and is located in the mountains of Himalayas. Kedarnath is one of the most popular religious tourist destinations in the country. However during the winters, it becomes very difficult to go to this place because of the snow and dangerous mountains. However, again because of bad weather, The Kedarnath Yatra has been temporarily halted amid high rain alert and continuous rain since Monday morning 23 May 2022. The devotees have been asked not to hike to the temple and to return to their hotels.

District Disaster Management officer NK Rajwar said due to the heavy rain, the pilgrims, who have arrived in Ukhimath, Sonprayag and Gaurikund, were asked to stay there until further announcement as winds, thunderstorms and lightning pose a risk to them on their way to Kedarnath. With the forecast of heavy rainfall on 23rd and 24th of May in the hills of Kedarnath Over 10,000 pilgrims are waiting for the yatra to resume. What do you think about this story?
