Ladakh Jubilant Over Separation from J&K

The Article 370 was initially created to protect the state of J&K. However, the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh never got along with each other. Ladakh is a Buddhist area which is situated in the extreme north of India and never had strong political representatives. Whenever people spoke about problems in J&K nobody addressed the problems in Ladakh even though it was such a vast area. The Government of J&K was headed by Jammu Kashmir National Conference Party and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). The government always ignored the needs of Ladakh and whatever laws were passed by the govt, Ladakh was forced to accept.
Now Ladakh is separated from J&K is a UT. Yesterday in the Lok Sabha, Ladakh’s MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal gave a 17-minute speech. He and the people of Ladakh are extremely happy to be made separate from J&K and thanked the BJP government. This was a very strong speech and has gone viral all over the internet. In the speech he said that for the last 70 years, Congress treated Ladakh like a step-mother. Congress was responsible for Ladakh being underdeveloped. In 1948, Buddhist Association of Ladakh had written to Jawaharlal Nehru and requested him not merge Ladakh with Kashmir, but Nehru did not accept our request," he said.
He also said that it was always Kashmir that got a major share of development funds, and Ladakh did not get anything. Namgyal said that in India, if Modi is there anything is possible. He said the people will proudly unfurl the tricolour in Ladakh as the nation will now have a common flag. Amit Shah and everyone in the Lok Sabha were cheering Namgyal and thumping their desks. Modi Tweeted and Thanked Namgyal for his speech. He said that Namgyal has clearly said the wants of the people of ladakh. India will make sure to support ladakh.
