The arrest of Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan in the Mumbai cruise drugs case has become one of the most-followed news items. While some have patted Narcotics Control Bureau's (NCB) back for raiding the high-profile cruise, others have brought forth complaints of irregularities in investigation.The entire investigation is being led by NCB officer  Sameer Wankhede. Now, he is facing serious allegations from Prabhakar Raghoji Sail of demanding 25 crore money from Shah Rukh Khan in return for releasing Aryan.

Wankhede has denied the claims but NCB has ordered an investigation against him. The officials have submitted a report to NCB Deputy Director General Gyaneshwar Singh on the matter and inquiry will soon begin. He flew to Delhi on Monday and people are saying that top and NCB officials called him there to talk about his corruption but he said he has gone to Delhi for other work. 

So, who is Wankhede exactly?

Wankhede’s father is a hindu and he is a retired police officer. His mother who passed away was a Muslim. Sameer is an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer of the 2008 batch, and hails from Washim district in Maharashtra's Vidarbha region. His first marriage was to Dr Shabina Khureshi but they got divorced. Wankhede then got married to Marathi actress Kranti Redkar and the couple are parents to twin daughters. 

Wankhede worked in airport customs, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs and also the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Later, he became the Joint Director at the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI). Then in 2020 when Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide, Wankhede joint the NCB and handled the SSR case. People are saying that Wankhede is targeting celebrities. In response he said, “It's not like I go out of the way to target celebrities. I just follow the rule book. If a person who is well-known does something wrong, should we let that person go?"
