Maharashtra Announces Weekend Lockdown
The Maharashtra government has imposed strict restrictions in the country to contain the rising cases of COVID-19.
Amid the rising coronavirus cases in Maharashtra, the Maharashtra government announced strict restrictions for the entire state to control the spread of infection. Maharashtra is notably the worst-hit Indian state, accounting for more than half the number of new infections across the country. The rules, which come into effect from today 5th April. Section 144 will be imposed on the whole state from 7am to 8pm everyday. More than 5 people will not be allowed to gather in one place. In the night, there will be night curfew from 8pm to 7am on weekdays. During the weekend there will be a full lockdown. It will begin 8 pm Friday and continue until 7 am Monday. No one will be allowed outside without a valid reason except for essential services and medical staff.
All types of shops, malls and markets, except those selling groceries, medicines and vegetables, will remain closed until April 30. Places of worship, Cinemas, clubs, swimming pools, sports complexes, auditoriums, water parks, salons, beauty parlours and spas will be shut. Restaurants and bars will be completely closed, except if a restaurant is part of a hotel, then it can be opened only for the guests staying at the hotel. Takeaway or parcel service will be available only from 7 am to 8 pm. Shopkeepers and staff of essential goods and services have been told to get vaccination as soon as possible and to ensure that their customers follow Covid norms. All schools and colleges close except for 10th & 12th board exams. Housing societies with more than 5 positive cases will be sealed for outsiders. Private offices should work entirely from home. Manufacturing sector to function with COVID precautions. E-Commerce deliveries will operate between 7am - 8pm.
Daily wage workers should be given paid leave if they test positive and should not be dismissed. Banks, stock market, insurance, pharmaceutical companies, telecom, electricity, water services and agriculture companies are allowed to work. Public & Private transport to continue. Only 2 passengers allowed in autorickshaw. 50% capacity in taxis/cars. No standing in buses only passengers in seats will be allowed. Stay Safe & Stay healthy.
