Maharashtra Relaxes Covid Restrictions From 15th August

The Uddhav Thackeray-led Maharashtra government on Wednesday eased more curbs in the states as it allowed restaurants and hotels to operate till 10 pm extending their earlier 4 pm deadline.

Maharashtra government on 11th August announced ease in restrictions in the state. It will be in effect from 15th August. Talking to reporters after the weekly cabinet meeting, state Health Minister Rajesh Tope announced the new guidelines. 

Restaurants and hotels can operate till 10 pm but with only 50 per cent capacity and with all necessary Covid precautions in place. Malls to reopen but only those fully vaccinated will be given entry. It will be the mall owners responsibility to follow the rules and if any rule is broken, the mall owner will be penalised. 

Shops can operate till 10 pm; their earlier deadline was 4 pm. Spas and gymnasiums will also be allowed to function till 10 pm at a 50 per cent capacity on the condition that the entire staff at these establishments has taken both doses of the vaccine. Government and private offices to open with full capacity. Private offices can operate 24×7 if staggered timings are followed. Indoor games will be allowed. The number of attendees at wedding functions has been capped at 200 but only if the function is being held in the open. For indoor venues, guests up to 50 per cent of the capacity will be allowed. 

Cinema halls and places of worship will continue to remain shut until further orders 

Earlier on 8th August, CM Uddhav Thackeray had announced that fully vaccinated citizens in Mumbai can travel in local trains from August 15, but they can travel only after a gap of 14 days from the second dose vaccine. After completing 14 days after the second dose, one needs to go to the station to do an offline verification. The officials will check the vaccination certificate and then a train pass will be issued. This verification process has started at 53 stations. The Maharashtra government is not in favour of opening schools and colleges from 17th August. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is scheduled to hold more meetings soon to take a final decision.
