Maharashtra: Remdesivir's Price Must Not Cross Rs. 1400

The Maharashtra government on Thursday decided to cap the price of Remdesivir between Rs. 1,100 and Rs. 1,400 per vial.

Remdesivir is a very important drug to treat COVID-19. Recently there was news that stocks of Remdesivir were very low and the price was very high. Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope has decided to cap the price of Remdesivir between Rs. 1,100 and Rs. 1,400 per vial. He made it clear that the price of a Remdesivir injection should not cross Rs. 1,400. Tope said that Remdesivir manufacturers should supply the stock directly to government hospitals. He said it must not be sold privately as it can lead to black marketing. He warned of a crackdown against stockists hoarding the medicine and appealed to doctors not to prescribe Remdesivir unless it is necessary. Tope has set up squads in every district to check malpractices in the sale of the injection. Officials have caught many people who are selling Remdesivir  in black.
