Earlier this week Prime Minister Modi launched the BJP’s “Main Bhi Chowkidar” campaign. PM Modi launched this campaign for the 2019 Lok Sabha Election by posting sharing a video online with the #mainbhichowkidar. In the video he spoke about his various programmes, such as Mudra Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana and the Clean India initiative. In the video he said that he is India’s Chowkidar who will work hard to serve his country.He encouraged everyone to come forward and fight corruption, dirt and social evils.
The video has been retweeted 20 lakh times and has gone viral all over the internet. After the video was released, many BJP leaders have added the word “Chowkidar” as a prefix to their twitter handles in support of the campaign. More than 1 lakh people have pledged to support this movement. PM Modi will interact with his supporters on 31st March via Videoconference.
The BJP launched this campaign in response to Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s taunt “Chowkidar Chor Hai” which means the “The Watchman is a Thief”. Rahul Gandhi in response to the campaign said that PM Modi launched the campaign because he was caught stealing public money.
