Mohammed Shami Rescues Road Accident Victim in Nainital

Shami emerges as a hero off-field after World Cup success, rescues accident victim in Nainital.

Shami has been resting after his stint at the World Cup where he emerged as the highest wicket-taker. Mohammed Shami is once again hogged the headlines as he rescued a road accident victim in Nainital. The bowler posted a video on Instagram which went viral. Since Shami’s car was tailing the vehicle that met with the accident, he, along with other occupants in his car, rushed to the person's rescue and pulled him out of the vehicle. Captioning the video, Shami wrote, “He’s so lucky god gave him 2nd life. His car fell down from the hill road near Nainital just in front of my car. We took him out very safely. I am so happy to save someone.” Shami's story at the World Cup was just like a blockbuster movie. Initially, he was even in the playing XI, but after Hardik Pandya's injury, Rohit Sharma removed Shardul Thakur for Shami. He was not included in the first four games and made his first appearance against New Zealand, where he took 5/54 in Dharamshala. In the semi-finals, he took a seven-wicket haul and finished as the highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 24 dismissals. Shami also moved past veterans Zaheer Khan and Javagal Srinath to become India’s all-time leading wicket-taker at the ODI World Cups. The bowler was not part of the India squad during the India-Australia series. He is likely to get picked up for the India-South Africa series.
