The total number of COVID-19 cases in India is now more than 3 lakh. The number of deaths is now more than 10,000. The Central and State government are working very hard to increase testing and increase the number of beds for those infected. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also interact with Chief Ministers of states and representatives of Union Territories to discuss ways how the Unlock 1.0 is going on in the country. Due to rising cases,Tamil Nadu government announced a total lockdown for Chennai and its suburbs from June 19-30 and only essential services would be allowed. This is because due to reducing lockdown restrictions, there were 1,800 new cases and 44 deaths.
Even though there is a severe increase in cases in Delhi, the Delhi government has said they will not reimpose lockdown and everything is in control. After the US, Brazil and Russia, India is the world's fourth worst-hit nation by COVID-19. In terms of the number of deaths, India is ranked ninth after the US, Brazil, UK, Italy, France, Spain, Mexico and Belgium.
