A father-daughter duo was saved from drowning as their car plunged into a pool of a waterfall in Simrol near Indore in Madhya Pradesh.
In a video that went viral on social media, a red car could be seen skidding over a rock edge and plunging into the pool. The girl was inside the car and the man was trying to open its door while the car was rolling down. A young girl screamed for help from inside the car. A few seconds after the car plunged into the pool, a man close to the water jumped in and swam towards the man to save him. Sunil Mathew who helped to rescue said, “I saw a car falling into the waterfall. A man and his 13-year-old daughter, who were the two occupants of the car, were trying hard to get off even as the vehicle was sliding. They were drowning. I was in shock for some time looking at the incident but then gathered courage to jump in and save the man. His daughter was saved by others who were around. He claimed that there were no police personnel present near the waterfall and people were taking their vehicles to the top of the waterfall by going off-roading. However, he said he was happy that both father and daughter were saved.
Meanwhile, the Superintendent of Police said the incident took place due to the negligence of the driver. “The car was negligently parked very close to the pool of the waterfall. We have learnt that the car started rolling after its trunk was forcefully closed and then fell into the pool of the waterfall. The area had a sizable number of picnickers due to the monsoon and as it was a Sunday.
