A fun birthday evening turned tragic for an 18-year-old boy who was killed by his 4 friends after birthday celebrations in Mumbai’s Govandi last week. According to the Shivaji Nagar police official, the victim Sabir Ansari had organized a birthday party at a ‘dhaba’. The food bill came to around Rs 10,000. A dispute arose between the victim and his friends over sharing the bill, but then Sabir settled the matter by paying from his pocket as the rest of his friends agreed to pay him later. The victim later asked his friends for the money but they refused to pay and threatened him. Later, the four accused organised another party and invited Sabir for the event. After feeding him cake, they attacked him with sharp weapons multiple times, leaving him dead.
However, according to the victim’s father, one of Sabir’s friends had hired a DJ for the party, but Sabir did not give money for the DJ as he did not have money with him. That is why they killed him. Out of the 4 friends, two of them were minors aged 17 and the other 2 were aged 19 and 22. After the murder, the 4 friends escaped from the site. The 19 year old and the 22 year old friend tried to flee to their hometown Gonda, Uttar Pradesh.
On information, police reached the spot and took the victim to the hospital but doctors declared him dead. However, the two minors surrendered to the police. The police then were on the lookout for the other 2 who had escaped. They were then caught from Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The underage boys were sent to a correction home, while the other two accused were arrested under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including section 302 for murder. His birthday turned out to be the last day of his life for the victim.
