Mumbai: Deaf Man Arrested For Sexually Assaulting Minor Girls

Kurar police arrested 45-year-old Mahesh Ramesh Pawar from Virar for sexually assaulting minors.

On 17th December, Kurar police arrested a 45-year-old Deaf man from Virar, identified as Mahesh Ramesh Pawar, for allegedly sexually assaulting several minor girls. The arrest followed a complaint filed by a 22-year-old woman who revealed that she had been assaulted by Pawar in 2009, fifteen years ago. The incident took place at a common friend’s residence, where Pawar spiked her drink, sexually assaulted her, and recorded the crime. The video of the assault was recently circulated, prompting the woman and her husband to approach the police.

Acting swiftly, the Kurar police traced Pawar using his mobile phone location data and laid a trap. Within six hours of the complaint being registered, Pawar was arrested after a technical and physical search operation. During the investigation, police discovered eight to ten obscene videos on his phone involving minor girls, including a Deaf girl.

According to police reports, Pawar would lure young girls by offering them soft drinks mixed with intoxicating pills. Once the victims lost consciousness, he sexually assaulted them and recorded videos of the crimes. He later used these recordings to blackmail and repeatedly exploit the victims.

Senior police inspector Sanjay Tawde confirmed that the case has now been handed over to Vakola Police, Santacruz, for further investigation. The arrest highlights the importance of quick police action and the need to protect vulnerable victims from exploitation.
