Mysterious Disease Sickens 292 In Andhra Pradesh
On 6th December, one person died and 292 people fell sick due a mysterious disease in Eluru city in Andhra Pradesh. The cause of the disease is not known yet.
On 6th December, a mysterious disease began spreading in Eluru city in Andhra Pradesh. It claimed one life and about 292 residents fell sick. The people were suddenly falling unconscious after suffering from symptoms of fits and nausea. All the patients tested negative for Covid-19. Special teams of doctors rushed to Eluru to treat the victims.The West Godavari district medical and health officials said that more than 140 of the patients have gone back home after treatment at the hospital. Condition of others was stable. Health authorities could not yet establish the cause of the sudden disease even though blood tests and CT scans were performed. According to district Joint Collector Himanshu Shukla, E-coli results are also awaited.
A 24x7 control room has been set up in the Eluru Municipal Corporation office. Milk samples were also collected at random and sent for examination in Vijayawada. Deputy Chief Minister (Health) A K K Srinivas said tests established that water contamination was not the cause of the mysterious disease. A 45-year-old man, who was admitted to the Government General Hospital (GGH) in Eluru with symptoms of nausea and epilepsy, died in the evening. The majority of the people who suffered the sickness had recovered within a few minutes but seven persons were shifted to the GGH in Vijayawada for better treatment. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy visited Eluru on Monday, 7th December and held a meeting with the West Godavari district officials.
