Navi Mumbai Societies to Get Cash for being Eco-friendly
Navi mumbai buildings are encouraged to be more eco-friendly by giving them a cash benefit. This is so that they become a zero waste city by 2019.
The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has decided to give a cash benefit to 200 housing societies. This benefit is for those societies who will take up eco-friendly measures such as waste separation, composting, rainwater harvesting and solar power generation.
Societies need to make sure they treat the waste by separating it into wet and dry dust bins.Install solar panels in the society is also encouraged. The society also must collect rain water and reuse.
This is because the NMMC wants to improve its ranking in the 2019 swachh survekshan. This survey ranks various municipal areas on the basis of cleanliness and waste management.
The Navi mumbai ranked first in the country last year for waste management And Now wants to turn the city into a zero garbage area.
The annual cash benefit will range from Rs. 10000 to Rs. 25000 per category for two years.The categories include Energy and water conservation and waste separation.
These benefits will motivate the residents to adopt eco friendly measures and reduce waste. Such efforts by the NMMC motivates citizens to be more careful of their waste and be more eco friendly.
