NIA File 13,500-page Chargesheet for Pulwama Attacks
The NIA has now filed a 13,500 page chargesheet about the Pulwama attacks.
On February 14 2019 last year, over 40 soldiers were killed when a suicide bomber of the Jaish-e-Muhammad rammed a car full of explosives into a CRPF convoy at Pulwama. The Indian Air Force conducted an air strike at the Jaish terror training facility in Pakistan's Balakot by dropping bombs. After these attacks, the NIA - National Investigation Agency - launched an investigation into the Pulwama attacks. Now the NIA has filed a 13,500 page chargesheet which lists 19 accused and details how the pulwama attacks were planned by Masood Azhar, leader of Jaish-e-Mohammad in Pakistan. Out of the 19 accused named by the NIA, Six of the terrorists were eliminated, seven have been arrested and five are still missing.
According to the NIA, Jaish terrorist Mohd Umar Farooq was the person who planned the attacks. His father was Ibrahim Athar, the main person who hijacked the flight IC 814 in 1999. Farooq had bought 20 Kg of RDX from Pakistan for the Pulwama attacks and he was killed by the Indian army in March 2020. After his death, the NIA found many photos and information from Farooq’s mobile phone. The NIA found whatsapp chats with other terrorists, images of the RDX bomb, photos with other terrorists, video & audio recordings of Masood Azhar. All these details, along with each and every terrorists role in the attacks have been mentioned in the chargesheet. The charge sheet claims that after Pulwama, the Jaish terrorists had planned to carry out another attack. The NIA has also given proof that Pakistan was involved in the Pulwama attacks. The NIA has said that the ISI - Pakistan intelligence unit - helped the JeM.
