Night Curfew Imposed in Madhya Pradesh & Gujarat
Some cities in Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat will see night curfew from tomorrow amid a spike in COVID-19 cases.
In some cities of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat night curfew has been imposed from 21st November amid a spike in COVID-19 cases. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “Night curfew will be between 10 pm and 6 am from Saturday 21st Nov in Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, Vidisha and Ratlam. People working in essential services and factory workers are exempted.” Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel announced curfew between 9:00 pm and 6:00 am in Surat, Rajkot and Vadodara cities from Saturday 21st Nov. He said, “The curfew will remain in force until further announcement. I urge citizens to cooperate with authorities to contain the virus.” It was reported that Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel was saying that only people involved in essential and emergency services will be allowed during the curfew. Just a day earlier, a complete curfew was announced in Ahmedabad from Friday 20th November 9 p.m. to 23rd November 6:00 a.m. and then indefinite night curfew. There will not be any public transport service in the city on Saturday and Sunday.
All exams scheduled by the Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) and other bodies have been postponed. The decision to impose the night curfew in Ahmedabad and more cities in Gujarat was taken on 19th November at a meeting led by Mr Vijay Rupani, with his deputy Mr Patel present. Senior officials of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation also participated in the meeting. The Health ministry said Dr SK Singh, Director of the National Centre for Disease Control, will lead a team to Gujarat to assess the coronavirus situation.
