Pakistan Minister Fawad Chaudhry while speaking in the Pakistan Parliament admitted to Pakistan’s role in the 2019 Pulwama terror attack. He said that we attacked India in its own land and that Pulwama attack was a great achievement. In the Pulwama attack by the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in February 2019 more than 40 Indian CRPF personnel were killed. After the attack India had conducted airstrikes targeting a JeM training camp in Balakot in Pakistan. In response to the Balakot airstrikes, Pakistan had sent fighter jets to target  Indian military installations. This attempt was blocked by the Indian Air Force (IAF) however; Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was captured by Pakistani forces. He was released two days later. On Wednesday 28th October opposition leader of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Ayaz Sadiq in the parliament spoke about the meeting where Pakistan decided to release IAF pilot Abhinandan.

Ayaz Sadiq said Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa was sweating and his legs were shaking as he entered the meeting. Then Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi told everyone in the meeting, “For God's sake, let Abinandan go, because India is about to attack Pakistan at 9 pm in the night.” In response to Sadiq’s Wednesday’s comments in the parliament, Minister Fawad Chaudhry said, “We attacked India in its own land.” He added, “Our success in Pulwama is the success of the people under Imran Khan's leadership. We're all part of that success.” He later said, “After the Pulwama incident, the way Pakistan's soldiers hit India in their home has left the Indian media and leadership embarrassed.

Chaudhry received a lot of criticism for his comment. In a tweet on Thursday he said that his comment was taken out of context, he was talking about when Pakistani planes targeted combat installations. He added: “We do not show bravery by killing innocents and we condemn terrorism”. Chaudhry also clarified his remarks in an interview with NDTV, and said that does not allow any terrorism.
