Bollywood actor Payal Ghosh filed a police complaint against filmmaker Anurag Kashyap for sexually assaulting her in the past. The First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at the Oshiwara Police station in Mumbai. On Saturday 19th September, Payal Tweeted and said, “Anurag Kashyap has forced himself on me and extremely badly.” In her Tweet, she requested Prime Minister Modi for help. Payal said that the incident happened in 2014-2015 at the time of shooting the movie Bombay Velvet, which was directed by Anurag.
Anurag replied to her Tweets saying her accusations are baseless and he did not do any such thing. He released a statement by his lawyer, that whatever Payal said is completely false and he will take legal action against her. Anurag said in the #MeToo movement many women came forward and openly blamed people for sexually harassing them. The #MeToo movement empowered women to say the truth and not be afraid. Anurag that now Payal is just using the #MeToo to spoil my name and attack my character.
Payal also said Anurag earlier got intimate with some actresses who worked with him. She had named actor Richa Chadha. Reacting to this Richa has shared her lawyer’s statement which said, “My name is unnecessarily being dragged into this controversy. This is completely untrue. Women must not harass other women by saying things without any proof.” Richa has said she will file a case against Payal. Anurag’s two ex-wives, Aarti Bajaj and Kalki Koechlin have supported him by saying Anurag can never.
