PM Modi Inaugurates 1st Nepal Pipeline
PM Modi and his Nepal counterpart K P Sharma Oli have jointly inaugurated the Motihari-Amlekhganj petroleum product pipeline which will run between India and Nepal.
Since 1973 India exported petrol to Nepal through tankers via road. Now Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Nepal PM K P Sharma Oli on 10th September, Tuesday jointly inaugurated the Motihari-Amlekhganj petroleum product pipeline via a video link. This will provide cleaner petroleum products at affordable rates to the people of Nepal.The pipeline will start from Motihari in Bihar to Amlekhgunj in Nepal. This will reduce petrol prices in Nepal by Rs 2.Before the inauguration a presentation was given regarding this project.
During the presentation it was said that this pipeline is more than 69 km-long. In South Asia region, this is the first pipeline to be made between the two countries. The Prime Minister's Office had said that, this project shows the close relationship between India and Nepal. The pipeline will make sure that the petrol exported will be safe and it will also reduce the cost of the petrol as sending it via road is more expensive
