PM Modi Lands in Ladakh, China Shocked
PM Modi paid a surprise visit to the Indian Army headquarters in Ladakh to meet the soldiers at the frontline.
For a normal healthy human, it takes about two days to acclimatize to Leh’s height of 11,000 feet with the rarefied atmosphere (less oxygen), dry air and ultra-violet rays from the blazing sun in Ladakh. But on 3rd July 2020, 69-year-old Prime Minister Narendra Modi defied physical odds and landed at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport at Leh. After landing, he went straight to the Indian Army headquarters at Nimu outside Ladakh. He was there to be briefed about operational preparedness of the Indian military against the aggressive Chinese People’s Liberation Army. PM Modi was accompanied by Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and Army Chief Manoj Mukund Naravane. The decision of PM Modi to go to Leh was kept under wraps till he landed at the airport.
The presence of PM Modi in the Ladakh region has sent a huge signal to China that India will not surrender even an inch of its territory. It also gave relief to the local population as the Prime Minister himself came down to reassure them.
The PM’s visit is also a very strong message to China’s President Xi Jinping that if he does not get the either he gets his aggressive army from the border to retreat and make the situation normal again, then China would have to face the consequences. PM Modi salutes the soldiers of the Indian Army who are placed in Ladakh and are protecting India’s border. He paid tribute to the soldiers martyred in the faceoff at Galwan on 15th June. PM Modi said while addressing the soldiers, “The bravery that you and your compatriots showed, is a message to the world about India’s strength (the world has understood India’s strength). Nation rests peacefully because of your bravery” He also said that India’s decision to become self-reliant in relation to business has become even more strong after seeing Indian soldiers bravely fighting at the border.
PM Modi highlighted/focused that India had always pursued the path of peace in the world but at the same time those who are weak can never initiate steps for peace. Bravery is a prerequisite for peace. PM Modi did not name any country but he said this is the age of development and the age of expansionism is over. History is witness that countries that focused on expansion have either lost or were forced to turn back.
