PM Modi Lays Silver Brick for Ram Mandir

In 1991, PM Modi had promised that he will visit Ayodhya again only when the Ram Mandir is built. Now after 29 years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi finally visited for the momentous foundation laying ceremony of the Ram temple. Before the ceremony, the city of Ayodhya has been decked up. The city had been painted yellow an auspicious color of knowledge and learning. The homes were and streets were lit up with diyas as in Diwali. When PM Modi landed in Ayodhya, he was dressed in a golden colored traditional dhoti kurta, he first stopped at the Hanuman Garhi temple where he offered prayers. There he was presented with a headgear, silver mukut, and a stole by Sri Gaddinsheen Premdas Maharaj, head priest of the temple. The Prime Minister then went to offer prayers at Ram Janmabhoomi to Ram Lalla and performed ‘sashtang pranam’. He also planted a Parijat sapling which is a divine plant. The prime minister then took part in the rituals and performed Bhoomi puja for the Ram temple. A silver brick was laid for the Ram Temple.
As per the priest at Ram temple bhoomi pujan, nine bricks were kept at the site of the ceremony which was sent by the devotees of Lord Ram from around the world in 1989. Soil from more than 2000 pilgrimage sites and water from more than 100 rivers was brought for the rituals. 175 people were present at the ceremony. PM Modi shared the dais with just four other people, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Ram Mandir Trust Chief Nritya Gopaldas Maharaj, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, and CM Yogi Adityanath. Seating arrangements were made in accordance with social distancing norms. After performing the rituals, the Prime Minister released a commemorative postage stamp on the ‘Shree Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir’. He then addressed the audience and the nation by chanting Jai Siya Ram and thanked all citizens of the nation as well as Indians across the world on the occasion. He also thanked the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust to have invited him. He said he felt honored.
He added, “Just like all communities and sections across India came together for the fight for Independence before 1947, just like that, today we see that everyone has come together to celebrate this day in togetherness and harmony.” He said, “A grand temple will now be built for our Ram Lalla who had been staying makeshift tent till now. Today Ram Janmbhoomi breaks free of the cycle of breaking and getting built again as was going on for centuries.”a
