PM Modi Awarded Bhutan’s Highest Award
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded Bhutan's highest civilian award, which is the Order of The Druk Gyalpo.
Since 1968, India and Bhutan have had a unique and long-standing bilateral relationship marked by trust, goodwill, and mutual understanding. In 2018, the two countries' entire bilateral trade was Rs. 9,227.7 crores. Almost 4,000 Bhutanese students are enrolled in Indian universities, making India the most popular educational destination for them. Both countries have an open border that sees regular traffic both ways. India helps Bhutan in agriculture, health, development, education, culture, etc. Now Bhutan’s government has awarded Prime Minister Narendra Modi Bhutan's highest civilian award, the Order of The Druk Gyalpo.
Lotay Tshering Bhutan’s PM said, “India has helped Bhutan a lot for so many years. India is Bhutan’s closest friend. The PM always supported Bhutan. Especially during the COVID pandemic, Modi helped Bhutan a lot by giving vaccines, medicines and other essential items. Plus Modi is a very strong spiritual person. This is why Bhutan is giving this award to honour him. We can’t wait to give him the award in person.”
