Police Attacked in Punjab Due to Lockdown
A group of Nihang Sikhs brutally ordered policemen in Punjab. Watch our latest video for all the details.
Early Sunday morning, cops were attacked at a wholesale vegetable market in the Patiala district of Punjab.
At around 6:15 am, a group of five Nihang Sikhs (a religious sect whose members carry traditional weapons) went to the wholesale vegetable market in Sanaur town. When they reached there, the police asked them to show their curfew passes. Because during the lockdown nobody is allowed outside. Only people with passes are allowed. Since they did not have passes, the police did not allow them inside and there was a fight.
The group rammed their vehicle into a barricade and attacked the cops with swords. They cut off the hand of one of the police officers. Two other cops were badly injured. The group then ran away and hid in a Gurdwara. The police then went to catch them at the Gurudwara.
There was a two-hour standoff. A few members of the local sarpanch group helped to solve the problem and entered the Gurudwara. The group of men then came out of the Gurudwara carrying swords and knives. The five men have been placed under arrest. The cop who’s hand was cut has been taken to the hospital and is being treated.
