Police Return Valuables Worth Rs 4.3 Crore
Navi Mumbai Police return stolen goods worth Rs 4.3 crore, back to their rightful owners.
The Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar said that in 2018, 191 stolen goods which were worth Rs 4.3 crore were returned to the owners. The stolen goods included items like 63 pieces of jewelry, 60 two-wheelers and 29 four-wheelers, cash, cell phones, laptops and computers.
Mr Kumar said that according the law if stolen vehicles are found, the police have to return the vehicle to the owner or the insurance company within 6 months. Vehicles were found abandoned in navi Mumbai. Out of these 106 were returned by the police to Insurance companies or the owners.
A jeweller from Panvel said that one of his employees had stolen ornaments worth Rs 16 lakh. The police were able to track the man down and recover the stolen jewelry.
Similarly Rs 25 lakhs were stolen from a fruit vendor by some labourers. The Navi Mumbai police tracked the labourers to Jharkhand and were able to Rs 16 lakh.
Maharashtra Director General of Police Datta Padsalgikar said that he is very happy that the Navi Mumbai Police are working hard and helping the citizens.
