Dry fruits have been imported to India from Afghanistan for a long time. However, with the Taliban taking control over Afghanistan, the import of dry fruit and other things have become very less. This is why there is a severe shortage of dry fruits in the Indian market. There has been a price hike for dry fruits - raisins, figs, apricots, Kishori pistachio, licorice, and Gurbandi almonds because of their short supply. The rate of Afghani raisins has increased from Rs 600 to Rs. 750, Kishori pistachio, Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,100, apricot from Rs 400 to Rs. 550, and Gurbandi almond from Rs 1,600 to Rs 1,900. The traders have asked the Central Government for help to get dry fruits from other countries so that the price can become cheaper as the festival season like Navratri and Diwali is soon approaching.
