Pune: Woman Hangs from Building Holding a Man’s Hand for Reel

Pune Police arrested a 23-year-old girl and a 27-year-old boy for performing a dangerous stunt without any safety precautions on the roof of Pune’s Swami Narayan Temple for a reel.

In a shocking incident, a video showing a dangerous stunt performed by 27-year-old Mihir Gandhi and his 23-year-old friend Minakshi Salunkhe for an Instagram reel went viral on June 19, 2024. The video captures Mihir lying at the edge of the dilapidated Swami Narayan Temple's roof while Minakshi grabs his hand and dangles mid-air without any safety equipment.

According to reports, Mihir and Minakshi planned the stunt to test their 'grip strength' and used a multi-camera setup for the shoot. The viral video shows different angles of the stunt, indicating a total of four people filming: two on the terrace, one below the structure, and one on the nearby road.

The height from which Minakshi was dangling was equivalent to a 10-storey building, with rocky terrain below. The video suggests that if her hand had slipped, she would have likely died. The video received over 61,000 views and sparked outrage, with netizens demanding strict punishment for the duo and tagging Pune Police.

Pune’s Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station officers arrested Mihir and Minakshi on June 21, 2024, under IPC Section 336: Act endangering life or personal safety of others. Since the offense is minor, they may face a jail term of less than six months, a nominal fine, or both.

The Pune Police are now searching for the four people who filmed the video and hope to catch them soon.
