Railway Station Which Falls in Two Different States
There are two unique stations in Indian railways because of their geographical location, which makes them lie in two different states at the same time.
If you are an Indian, a train journey is probably a very common thing in your life.While we board our train from the origin station and un-board it at the destination, we come across hundreds of stations in between. But do you? There are two unique stations in Indian railways, not because of their size but because of their geographical location, which makes them lie in two different states at the same time. Yes, you heard that right, there are two railway stations in India that share a border with two states.
The first one is the Bhawani Mandi Railway station, which is located in the state of Rajasthan. The clerk at this station distributes tickets sitting in Madhya Pradesh and the commuters buy their tickets standing in Rajasthan. Sounds funny enough? Actually, the northern end of the station belongs to Madhya Pradesh, whereas the Southern end is a part of Rajasthan
Now coming to the second, such a unique railway station from the list, which is the Navapur Railway station.
Maharashtra and Gujarat share the same border with Navapur, and its railway station is also situated in the middle of these two states. Its northern part lies in the Tapi district of Gujarat, and the southern part is in Maharashtra’s Nandurbar district. Trains that stop at the Navapur railway station are stationed half in Maharashtra and half in Gujarat. Apart from this, this railway station is around 800 mt. long, out of which 500 mt. of the station belongs to Gujarat and the rest 300 mt. to Maharashtra. At this station, the announcements are made in four languages i.e Marathi, Hindi, Gujarati, and English. There are also clearly marked lines at the railway station which marks the separation of the two states.There is also a wooden bench with a line running through it to demarcate the state-side you are sitting on. On the Gujarat side are the stationmaster’s office, waiting room, and washroom, whereas on the Maharashtra side are the ticket counter and Railway police station. There are a number of trains that you can take to witness these stations. Some of them are Golden Temple Mail, Tapti Ganga Express, etc.
