Riots Erupt After Morocco Defeats Belgium in FIFA World Cup

In an extremely shocking incident, riots erupted in a number of Belgian and Dutch cities following Morocco's 2-0 victory over Belgium in the Fifa on 27th of November.

People around the world are now so obsessed with games like football and cricket that winning or losing the game can even cause riots among fans. Currently, the FIFA world cup 2022 is being held in Qatar starting from 20th of November. The final game of the tournament will be played on 18th of December. Now, in an extremely shocking incident, riots erupted in a number of Belgium and Netherland cities following Morocco's 2-0 victory over Belgium in the FIFA World Cup on 27th November 2022. Belgium, which is currently the world’s number 2 in international ranking, lost its game against Morocco, which is not as reputed. Several rioters overturned and burned automobiles, set fire to electric scooters, and pelted cars with bricks. 

 

According to Brussels (Belgium city) police spokeswoman Ilse Van de Keere, authorities were called in after one person suffered face injuries. Police detained over a dozen people in Brussels after using water cannons and tear gas to disperse protesters, and eight more in Antwerp. In the Netherland port city of Rotterdam, two police officers were hurt. By late evening, most of the communities involved had returned calm, and the situation was finally brought under control by the authorities.Brussels mayor Philippe Close encouraged people to avoid the city centre and said authorities were doing all possible to maintain peace and order on the streets. 

 

On police instructions, even subway and tram traffic had to be halted. Morocco's World Cup victory was significant and Moroccan fans living in several Belgian and Dutch areas joyfully celebrated the victory.
