A life-size bronze statue of Sachin Tendulkar was unveiled at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium to celebrate his legendary cricket career.

We all love and respect our master blaster, or who is known as the God of cricket, our favorite – Sachin Tendulkar. As a tribute to the 50 years of Sachin Tendulkar, a life-size bronze statue of Tendulkar was inaugurated by Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde at the Wankhede Stadium 1st November 2023 evening. The statue is in the pose of playing a stroke. This pose was selected from thousands of pictures of Tendulkar and shows his left leg extended, body slightly bent, head high & his bat pointing at the sky. The statue was installed by the Mumbai Cricket Association near the Sachin Tendulkar stand at the stadium. The grand
unveiling ceremony was attended by Tendulkar’s entire family. There were other dignitaries like Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra Sports Minister Sanjay Bansode, BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and many others. The statue has been made by an Ahmednagar painter-sculptor – Pramod Kamble. This statue is installed at Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium because it’s Sachin’s home ground. Tendulkar looked emotional during the ceremony. In his speech he mentioned that his first visit to the Wankhede stadium was when he was 10 years old in 1983 to watch the friendly match between India & West Indies. He also played
his last game for India there in the November 2013 test series against West Indies. He also revealed that when he entered Wankhede stadium to watch the match, they were 26 people and they had only 25 tickets, they had 1 ticket less. So he was sneaked into the stadium by his brother and his friends. Sachin dedicated this statue to all the players & team members who have played with him during his long career. He also remembered the 2011 World Cup. He added that in his career he learned that nothing happens ‘right now’ (immediately), everything takes time & therefore, he started preparing for the 2011 World Cup in 2007 itself.
He also said that the day he lifted the World Cup trophy was the happiest day of his life. Sachin Tendulkar has made India proud many times during the long span of his career and this life-size statue of him is a symbol of
celebration of his life that will represent his inspiring journey for years to come.
