Shikhar Dhawan To Miss Two World Cup Matches
The hero of India’s last game against Australia Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of the next two games due to a hairline fracture on his left thumb.
Shikhar hero of India’s last game against Australia has been ruled out of the next two games in World Cup due to a hairline fracture on his left thumb. Dhawan was hit on the left thumb during the match with Australia early on in his innings of 117 runs he seemed to be in pain for a while but continued playing. But he did not come out to the field when Australia were batting and could be seen in the dressing room with an ice pack on his thumb.
After the match he travelled to Leeds, England where he underwent some scans. Later in the day the BCCI said that Dhawan would stay on the team and wait for an update on his recovery time before deciding whether to send him home and replace with another batsman. If the team decides to send Dhawan back to India now, he will not be able to return to the team once he is healthy as a replacement will be brought in. Therefore the BCCI is waiting to see how long he would take to recover. However if he does not recover, Rishabh Pant might replace him.
This is a big blow to the Indian Batting, as Dhawan had a great opening partnership with Rohit Sharma. They are the fourth highest run scoring opening pair in the history of cricket putting up over 4500 runs together in 103 innings.
