South Africa to Have 50% Women Cabinet Ministers

South Africa to have first time ever a 50% women cabinet.

President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa on May 29th announced that for the first time in the history of South Africa that Women will make up half of South Africa’s new cabinet, he said this will help create a line of leaders that will advance the country into the future.

South Africa will become the 11th country in the world where half of the government's cabinet is made up of women, joining countries like France and Canada where from 30 ministers 15 are men and 15 are women. Columbia and Spain also have an equal representation.

Mr. Ramaphosa was re-elected for a second term after his party, The African Congress (ANC) won with a majority vote in the elections held in May, At a televised press conference the President said proudly, “For the first time in the history of our country, half of all the ministers are women.”

In contrast the newly elected Indian cabinet has 57 ministers, with only 6 female ministers.
