Spike in Swine Flu Cases in Gujarat
Gujarat is the worst state to be affected by the H1N1 virus in the country. It has the highest number of patients who have tested positive and 79 people who have died because of it.
Since 1st January in Gujarat, more than 2,000 people have tested positive for the H1N1 virus also known as Swine Flu and 79 people have died because of it. This number of keeps on growing.The Gujarat Health Department said that on 21 February, 4 more people died because of Swine Flu and 118 new cases were registered in the state. The Department also said that, most of the people have been discharged from the hospitals.
The Gujarat High Court has told the Gujarat State Government to create a committee of government officials and Health Department staff, to control the Swine Flu.The Gujarat High Court did this in response to a petition which said that hospitals in Gujarat are not able to detect the virus and their services are very bad as well. The Union Health Ministry has sent a team to help the state government to control the situation.
