Student Attacks Math Teacher Over Low Marks in Thailand
A Grade 11 student in Thailand violently attacked his math teacher after receiving 18/20 marks. The assault injured the teacher and sparked debate over academics versus discipline.
On 5th August 2025, a shocking incident occurred at a private school in Uthai Thani, Thailand, where a 17-year-old Grade 11 student attacked his math teacher over exam marks.
The dispute began after the student received 18 out of 20 in a midterm exam. The teacher explained that although his answers were correct, he failed to show the required working steps, which is why he lost two marks. She even advised him to consult other teachers, who confirmed the same grading rules.
Frustrated, the student demanded full marks and became aggressive. After initially storming out of the class, he returned about 10 minutes later, asking his teacher to apologise. When she calmly replied, “Who should be the one apologising?” he suddenly attacked her.
In front of more than 20 classmates, he slapped, punched, kicked, and even bit her. The incident, captured on CCTV, quickly went viral online. The teacher sustained injuries, including a bruised eye and rib pain, and was treated at the district women’s hospital.
On 8th August, she filed a police complaint at Nong Chang Police Station and later provided a full statement. The student was suspended, and his parents apologised and withdrew him from school. Thai law is now handling the case with extra care, given the student’s age.
