Supreme Court Rules 2nd and 4th Saturdays as Official Working Days

From 14 July 2025, the Supreme Court registry will work six days a week, including 2nd and 4th Saturdays, for faster case handling.

The Supreme Court of India has announced a major update in its working schedule. 

From 14 July 2025, the Supreme Court registry and offices will work six days a week, including 2nd and 4th Saturdays, which were earlier holidays.

As per the Supreme Court (Amendment) Rules, 2025, the new office hours will be:

  • Monday to Friday: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (urgent filings only till 4:30 PM)

  • Saturday: 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM (urgent matters before 12:00 noon)

This decision aims to speed up case handling, improve file processing, and make it easier for lawyers and the public to access court services.

Important:

This rule applies only to the Supreme Court offices. It does not affect bank working days or other government offices. Banks will continue to stay closed on 2nd and 4th Saturdays as per RBI rules.
