Swiggy, the renowned food delivery partner platform, has garnered praise and admiration for its latest initiative aimed at supporting its employees who are pet parents. On the occasion of National Pet Day, Swiggy unveiled its innovative 'Paw-ternity' Policy, which extends additional benefits and support to employees with pets.
Building upon its existing gender-neutral parental policy introduced in 2020, Swiggy's 'Paw-ternity' Policy acknowledges the significance of pet parenthood and underscores the company's commitment to inclusivity and employee well-being.
According to the new policy:
- Employees will be granted an extra paid day off to welcome their pets home, in addition to their annual leaves.
- Pet parents have the option to work from home to facilitate their pet's adjustment and comfort in their new environment.
- Casual or sick leave can be utilized by pet parents without hesitation to attend to the needs of their pets.
- Bereavement leave now covers the loss of pets, allowing pet parent employees the time to grieve and recover from the loss.
The introduction of the 'Paw-ternity' Policy reflects Swiggy's understanding that parenthood manifests in various forms, including the nurturing and care of pets, which hold immense significance for many individuals.
